Safety is a paramount consideration in the design and construction of our kayaks and always has been. We no longer even offer a kayak without full flotation in both ends, even in our recreational designs. All but one of our models is equipped with a system for re-entry on the rear deck. Eddyline designed a paddle float that fits on the seat back, already partially inflated for comfort and easy to access in a capsize. However, what I find interesting, and is perhaps a statement about our culture, is that in the 40+ years that I have been paddling, the emphasis on safety has shifted from the user to the manufacturer. Today the equipment is expected to provide safety as opposed to the judgment, skill and common sense of the user, without which a truly safe experience on the water cannot be obtained.
