Falcons are strong, fast fliers with great aerial agility. The Falcon S18 will give you that and a substantially higher top speed for those mile eating cruises or the expedition you have always been wanting to take on. The sleek lines and super efficient swede form hull design make her popular among racers or anyone who has an appetite for get up and go performance. Experienced paddlers will find the initial stability comfortable and the secondary awesome. The paddler looking for a long fast cruising kayak that will appreciate your developing skills should give the Falcon a test paddle for sure.

- Tracks well with the skeg down – skeg down for me even on calm waters since in the Islands there is usually a side current felt, but not seen from above. Skeg up, I have trouble keeping course.
- Tracks great in up to 2 footers
- I like the soft chines, swept bow, and rise to the cockpit – greenland style?
- Length I believe is a big asset in rough water like this. I’ve seen this in the Ski to Sea race 2 years ago,and in the DP dash this past December. Longer boats seem to do better in chop, as well as big waves. I guess that’s why sea kayaks are 16 feet and longer, not 9 footers, Right?

I had just loaded my boat on my truck for the trip home from my weekend place at the Cheaspeake Bay. Did I mention that I was parked under dead tree? As I was walking back to the house, I heard a cracking noise and turned around to see a 6 inch thick branch falling out of the tree from about 15 feet up and heading for my boat. The branch hit the boat at about the rear hatch, folding it down about a foot and a half, ripping the left side of my rack off the truck, and putting a huge dent in the bed rail of the truck. The boat popped back up some, but still had about six inches of negative rocker, a huge dent in the bottom behind the seat, and wrinkles on the side. I ran over and pulled the boat off the roof. I was able to just pop the dent in the bottom back out and was only left with a few small wrinkles in the side of the boat. I am amazed at how little damage there was. If this had been a glass boat it would have been destroyed. When I bought this boat I was really concerned about the durability of the carbonlite. It was a new material to me and I really didn’t know what to expect. After this little incident, I can’t recommend carbonlite highly enough. I’m also very impressed with Eddyline’s customer service. I called up right after this happened and was able to talk with one of the guys in the production shop about how to get rid of the wrinkles that were left on the side. He went out of his way to make sure I had the information I needed. As soon as my daughter is a little older, there will be a Eddyline carbonlite tandem boat in my future.

Having owned an “Eddyline Merlin XT and Falcon S18″, I can say a couple of things. On a couple of occasions I have called or talked to Eddyline or a rep re: various questions and issues, and they have been absolutely excellent to deal with. Pleasant, professional, accommodating. Top notch. Carbonlite 2000 is practically bulletproof. You miss a lot of the gel coat problems you would have with a glass boat, I think. It does mar and scratch some, but what doesn’t? It cleans up pretty well. It takes quite a bit of abuse from what I have seen at a local rental outlet. I felt that Eddyline unquestionably fit my fussy”service” requirement, so wasn’t the least bit hesitant about owning another item in their product line.

Hi, I just bought a Falcon S18 (carbonlite) and have been in it every day. Today in rough water 3ft seas and whitecaps.. Tracks beautifully and is easy for me to turn even in the wind. Effortless paddling with a secure feeling even in rough, confusing water. Everyone that sees it wants one. It´s a beauty.

I have an Eddyline Falcon S18 made of Carbonlite 2000, red over white. I thoroughly enjoy this kayak. Empty it is quick and maneuverable, and yet I can get enough gear in far a 5-day trip. Thanks for a great boat.
